ATHLETES AND PARENTS
RESPONSIBILITIES / CODE OF CONDUCT
ATHLETES MUST
- Remember that school work must remain the highest priority
- Attend all practices and events for the duration of the season unless otherwise excused by the coaches.
- Understand and abide by the rules and philosophy of CYO, the Booster Club, the Athletic Advisory Committee, and the coaches.
- Show respect at all times for the people, property and equipment involved in the athletic program.
- Should a 7th or 8th grade athlete play on an “A” team, participation on that team will have priority over any outside sport. The athlete must give 100% commitment to the Gesu team.
PARENTS MUST
- Ensure that academics remain the focus of the child’s life.
- Understand and abide by the rules and philosophy of CYO, the Booster Board, the Athletic Advisory Committee and the coaches.
- Arrange transportation to and from all practices and events for their child.
- Accept responsibility for the timely fee payment and completion of all registration and health forms associated with the Athletic Program.
- Consider a child’s commitment to team practices and games when planning and scheduling personal and family calendars.
- Properly maintain and promptly return issued uniforms at the end of the season.
- Attend all parents meeting as requested by the coaches or the Parish Athletic Director.
- Understand that the coach reserves the right to not play an athlete based on unexcused absences from team activities.
- Understand that the coach reserves the right to not play an athlete based on poor conduct.
- Understand that inappropriate conduct or disrespect toward coaches, athletes, officials, site personnel, and others involved in CYO athletics will not be tolerated.
GRIEVANCE POLICY
- It is the policy of the Gesu Booster Club that in the event of a sports related dispute or disagreement, parents should first attempt to resolve the issue with the applicable team coach. If the grievance cannot be resolved at this level, parents should bring the problem to the attention of the Parish Athletic Director. As policy administrator, it is the responsibility of the A.D. to investigate the grievance and determine the resolution, consulting with the Pastor if necessary.
